                        STATUE OF UNITY 

 Statue of unity is a monument dedicated  to  India's first Deputy Prime minister as well as first home minister SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL.Which is located in the Indian state of Gujarat.Former chief minister of Gujarat Narendra  Modi(currently the prime minister of India) on 31 OCT 2013 had laid the foundation stone on the occasion of  birth anniversary of sardar patel. The statue of unity is at the distance of 3.2 km from Sardar Sarovar Dam.

                                     

The statue of unity is world tallest statue having height of 182m (597ft.)At present the world tallest statue is Spring Temple Buddha of 152m. height which is in China .The second highest statue is also of Buddha of height 120m.

By India government the cost for this project was estimated to be Rs.3001 cr(US$420 million). but L&T(Larsen &Turbro ltd) company on 2014 OCT won the contract   for its lowest bid of Rs 2989 cr.(US$420 million) The construction of statue was started on 31 OCT 2013 and the construction of statue has been ended by mid of OCT 2018.
The statue of unity will be inaugurated on 31 October 2018 by the prime minister of India Narendra Modi and the statue will be open for public visit from November 3.

The statue of unity total height including
 base is 240m in which base is of 58m

and statue is of 182m.
The statue of unity is constructed with steel framing, reinforced cement concrete , and bronze cladding(covering or coating).The statue of unity needed 75,000 cubic metres of concrete, 22,500 tonnes of bronze and 18,500 tonnes of steel rods for its construction.
Project manager of Burj Khalifa, Miichael Graves and Associates and Meinhardt Group is supervising the project .It took 56 months to complete the project ; 15 months for planning,40 months for construction and 2 months for handing over.
The statue of unity is provided with two lift/elivator which help to reduce transit time for visitor.
The statue is totally covered with bronze.
The visitor can reach to the statue of unity in 5 minute by boat.

  Civil engineering is the practice of designing and developing infrastructures for solving the problems of peoples related to there basic needs or requirements.Civil engineers plan,design,and supervise the construction of different buildings,roads,bridges etc.Civil engineering is one of the ever green branch among all engineering branches.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design ,construction and maintenance of the man made and naturally built environment .Civil engineering deal with the works like construction of roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems,installation of pipe lines ,and railway etc.

        Civil engineers are the person who posses an academic degree in civil engineering of course duration of 3 to 5 years and completed degree is designates as bachelor of technology(B.Tech) or a bachelor of engineering(BE).The curriculum of civil engineering generally includes physics,mathematics,project management,design and specific topic related to civil engineering.

HISTORY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
Earlier civil engineering was practiced in ancient Egypt ,the Indus valley Civilization, ancient Iraq when humans started to stop moving from one place to another rather to live at one place all of the time which creates a need for the construction of shelter.At the same time transportation become increasingly important and due to the increasing of transportation it leads to the development of transportation services like wheel and boat or ship(sailing techniques)

The construction of pyramids in Egypt (between 2700-2500 BC) were some of the first example of large  structure construction.Other historic civil engineering construction includes the Qanat water management system (it is of 71 km long and 3000 years older), the Great Wall of China is also one of the oldest and largest civil structure.The Romans developed civil structures throughout there empire ,including aqueducts, harbors, bridges, dams and roads.
